When people think of blinds, they often think of a covering for the windows and doors that helps to bring some much needed colour into any home and that’s pretty much all they are bought for. The opposite is in fact true and fitting blinds on your windows and doors can offer up so many other advantages. There are other things that you could add to your home that would make it stand out from the rest but they wouldn’t be as economical and affordable as window blinds are.
The next time that someone suggests that you put blinds on your windows and doors, maybe you will think about the following and the benefits that blinds can provide for you and your family.
- They block out UV rays – We all now know that UV rays can be very damaging to the skin before we are out in the sun too much and so you can close your blinds to keep the rays on the outside where they should be. The other very important thing is that these same UV rays can damage your fixtures and fittings in your home including your carpets and your favourite sofa and armchair. By closing your blinds, you’re putting off purchasing replacements for many more years.
- It reduces your cooling bills – When the sun is shining through the windows of your property then your air conditioner has to work harder to cool down your home and this is costing you extra money. By simply installing window blinds and keeping them closed when the sun is shining in that particular part of the house at that particular part of the day, you are reducing your cooling bills significantly.
- Better sleep patterns – You might be a person who works on shifts and therefore you need to go to bed in the daytime when everyone else is up for the day. It is incredibly difficult to fall asleep when there is bright light and so window blinds can be close to block out all of that natural light which allows you to get the sleep that you need to be more productive in your job.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, as well as helping to cool your home, door and window blinds can be used to keep the heat inside the house during cooler times of the year. As you can see, window blinds not only look amazing in your home and help to add value to it, but they also provide you with the above benefits as well.
